Songs of the Soul, a compact disc representative of the music that is heard regularly at the services of worship at First Presbyterian Church, will soon be available to members and friends. The compact disc is a result of the regular commitment of many participants in the music ministry, and nine hours of recording the week following Easter Sunday. It features the Chancel Choir singing ten anthems such as Mack Wilberg's arrangement of the hymn-classic "Praise to the Lord" and the ever-popular "Hear Me, Redeemer" in a gospel style. Also included are duets by our soloists and selections by the Logos Choir, the Joyful Noise Singers, and the Kirk Handbell Ringers. The compact disc will be sold at coffee hour for $15.00 in a few weeks.
Renovation Updates …The narthex continues to progress … concrete has been poured in anticipation of the new limestone tiling to be laid in early August, the framing is completed along with plastering and the re-installation of woodwork. Remaining to be completed in the area includes the tiling, the carpeting for the comfort room, the finish plumbing and electrical work, the installation of the new built-in Deacon’s desk and a few odds and ends. Projected completion date remains mid-August to allow for the next phase of the renovation program: repainting of the sanctuary and cleaning of the ceiling.

Reflections of One Member on an Important Topic …
Fifty years ago friends of ours were just starting out, raising children and making a household when the working family member was offered the opportunity to become partner in a firm for the then great sum of $12,000.00 yearly.
He accepted the offer, called his wife, and told her that they were going out to dinner because of the great news.
“You got a raise?” she asked, “How much did you get?”
“Let’s put it this way, he answered, “We will never have to worry about money again as long as we live.”
“Each one, as a good manager of God’s different gifts, must use for the good of others the special gift he has received from God.” 1 Peter 4:10
